Feeling like a star

Well this is a little teaser of things to come. I have been in preproduction with a fabulous friend who I met when I first moved to London. Fast forward eight years and Sophie Parker has her own business called Star Wigs (http://www.starwigs.co.uk). In the words of Sophie "Hair is the one thing that can change the way a woman feels about herself". I could not agree more. These wigs, called Stars, are guaranteed to make you feel fabulous and confident.

I was lucky to have a wig on loan. I asked my friend Karen to help me out and together we had a fun photo shoot. Nothing like changing your hair style to make you feel like a different person. Big girls dress up right? Blondes may have more fun but this wig was all about confidence and sexy style.

I can not put into words how much fun this shoot was. It was an absolute blast working with Karen, who let me push the boundaries and create some stylish shots. I also created a pretty in pink photo montage to give you a better idea of what Karen is normally like. It was a tough job editing these down to the final few. I hope you enjoy these and don't forget to check out Star Wigs to find your own inner 'star'.

Rain rain go away

It had been a stressful and busy week. I was really looking forward to enjoying some sunshine on my day off, especially as it has been both sunny and warm for the long weekend. Summer was finally here! It comes as no surprise that when I woke up on Tuesday I was greeted by a typical grey rainy day. My plans of spending the day in glorious sunshine with my camera were shattered.

New plans were made and I met my friend Karen for breakfast. We talked, drank coffee and talked some more. It was just what I needed and I started to feel like myself again. I went home and spend the day watching films on my laptop, reading in bed and eating popcorn. Sometimes you really just have to look after yourself by taking time out and enjoying the little things.

When in Rome...

When in Rome do as the Romans do, right? I had a mini break in Cardiff, visiting my boyfriend who was acting in the opera Wagner Dream playing, Dr Keppler. It only seemed right that we should go and see the Doctor Who exhibit. I am honestly not the biggest fan but I do have memories staying up late watching the Tom Baker series with my mum in Australia. They must be doing something right if the show first aired in 1963 and still has a massive cult following. It is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and as the "most successful" science fiction series of all time—based on its over-all broadcast ratings

The first part of the exhibition is an interactive tour, cheesy but kinda cool. As we all found our inner science fiction geek we were suddenly surrounded by props, costumes and random technical information which will satisfy any fan. Of course I had my camera and had some fun with my surroundings. Nothing like being a big kid surround by some incredible props.

For me, it is time to catch up with the doctor and see what I have missed out on.

Not what you think

So my flat mate and I have been working on a rather interesting little documentary. Now I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years but never came across anything so unique as this, especially in London town. Please let me introduced you to POGO, a vegan café which runs by a volunteer service. Now I know the thought of vegan food can make most people run the other way but hold on a second and hear me out. This establishment is based in Hackney and unlike most eateries has a massive community feel. I really think you need to try before you make up your mind. The lunch we had that day was amazing, using local fresh ingredients. The menu looks like any other cafe but offers some tasty meat free alternatives.

Now more than ever POGO needs your help. This little friendly establishment has a wonderful creative atmosphere. Unfortunately when we came back for more interviews and cutaways, we found the cafe closed due to lack of volunteers. It was heart breaking after the kindness we were shown on our first visit. Anyway, please take a look at the website www.pogocafe.co.uk and help out. In the interim check out some of these stills.
