Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

I was recently introduced to coconut milk by my flat mate. She was eating porridge and made me try it. From that moment on I have been a little obsessed with it. We have all heard the benefits of eating a good breakfast so I don't need to lecture you again. I have been starting my day with a bowl of porridge made using coconut milk, blueberries and extra toasted coconut flakes. I know it may sound a strange but trust me it is delicious and after all breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

So this weeks blog is a little attempt into food photography. Turning porridge into a delicious dairy free meal. Please let me know if I have tempted you to try something new. Enjoy!

Testing testing 1 2 3 ...

This weeks blog is a little different and I must stress a test and a development stage in preproduction. When I first moved to London, all those years ago, I had a little idea in my head about a short film. Some rough ideas I wanted to try and capture on film. I have had this idea for many years and have at various times developed the idea into a story board and shot list etc. Back then I didn't have my own equipment so I couldn't just get up and go.

In the theme of Robin Williams, carpe diem, and after reading a fascinating article by Steven Follows I was reminded of that idea. This time I did have a camera and I thought it was about time I did something about it. I only took my 50mm lens and headed out the door. I want to apologise for the very poor handheld camera work. Technically if I am honest, it is a little shaky, but this was exercise was about story and trying to capture that idea to see if it would still work.

I learnt many things with this exercise and have a few new approaches on how I want to capture my story. Time to develop this idea and create the film I first envisioned when I moved over to the United Kingdom.

Things my mum taught me

12/8/2014

It has been a very busy month for me, I can hardly believe it has gone so quickly. Full of so many good memories. As you may have notice, my mum was over from Australia this last month and what a world wind visit that was. I can see where I get my stubborn and impatient qualities from.

Anyway, the visit really opened my eyes. As a creature of habit., I must admit I do love my own little routines especially with the madness freelance work can throw my way. I enjoyed looking at London with fresh eyes and really making the most of each days. London really does have so much to offer.  I feel very enriched from the last month and eager to make the most of every opportunity.

I wanted to create a picture to represent some of the adventures my mum and I shared. With so many tickets left over, it was also a little lesson in product styling. I wanted to create a busy, slightly chaotic photo. Just like my mum, I am a huge coffee addict and we spent many afternoons sipping double espressos before rushing off to our next appointment. It was what kept us both going. I was surprised at just how difficult it was to say goodbye. Thank you for so many good memories.

Exciting news

Just been informed from Off The Curb Productions that 'The Usher' will be screened on the 11th of August at London Zero Film Festival. Check out the website http://www.zero-london.com for tickets. As described, Zero Film Festival is the first and only festival exclusive to self financed filmmakers.  I personally can not wait! Nothing more rewarding than seeing your work on the big screen especially with an audience of like minded people. Tickets are still available so hope to see you there! I have a few productions still to help motivate you.
