Looking down the lens, directing a person and manipulating the light to get that perfect shot is what I really relish. However, recently one of my favourite moments is hearing back from a client and hearing what images made their favourites list.

So my plus one managed to get the lead in a television production and found out last minute the rehearsal date was the very same as Hannah and Bruno's wedding. Typical life of a freelancer. I was left abandoned last minute so decided to give myself a little challenge. I was to bring one camera, one battery and one lens. To make it a little bit more difficult I took my 28mm f1.8. It was hard to leave my go to 50mm lens but I wanted a challenge as I naturally tend to favour a more intimate composition. Now I got to ask, does any other photographer have this dilemma when attending a friend's wedding? As a guest you want to capture your own images but when this is also your day job it does blur the line. I wanted to enjoy the day, especially as it was such a big reunion amongst old friends. I must admit my camera did spend most of the day in my bag but here are a few images that I did take. Stylish Jo Hombsch from Backstage Jo based in Sydney Australia was visiting England and thankfully she brought the sunshine and warm weather with her. She was staying in Cambridge but got the train in to London for the day. As her train arrived into Liverpool Street I suggested we meet for coffee in Spitafield markets. During our wander we discovered Crosstown sourdough donuts and generally had good catch up. Seriously though you have to try these donuts, absolutely amazing. I had a photo shoot booked in the afternoon so conveniently had my camera on me. Here are some of my favourite pictures. I am not going to lie, I love keeping my own hours and being able to work anywhere but sometime you need to put your work on hold and catch up with a fellow freelancer and see where the afternoon takes you. I have worked with Debbie for two years and together we have had many fun adventures on set. On Friday I met her and her adorable dog Charlie in South Kensington. We both brought our cameras and went for a walk, unsure of our destination. Here are the images I took with my 28mm lens. It was a lovely way to end the week and I am sure we will be doing this again soon. |
