When you see a location online that truly inspires you. Let's talk about God's Own Junkyard because it is beyond amazing. I can not remember exactly when I first caught a glimpse on social media but when I did I just knew I wanted, no needed to shoot there. This small working studio holds an overwhelming array of iconic neon signs all fighting for your attention.

To all the other freelancers out there I ask are you as reluctant as me to actually take time off? It can be so difficult to switch off my phone, laptop and actually take time for me. I can not remember if I spoke about our last minute change to our Christmas plans? The short version is that with less than 24 hours notice our family Christmas vacation turned into a trip to Ukraine where Chris worked four days (including Christmas day). I can not really complain, it is part of the job description and I was luck to be able to fly over and keep him company. Anyway, back to my point. You might have noticed I have been offline the last week. That is because we finally took the plunge and booked a quick trip to Napoli to recharge our creative batteries. I can not begin to tell you just how much I needed a break and even though it was still a little cool we had seven days of beautiful sunshine. I tried to soak in as much as possible and am feeling refreshed and revitalised. Looking forward to getting behind a camera next week. Here are a few pictures from a shoot with the stunning Jo Hombsch relaxing in front of the camera, what a natural beauty. I am going to pretend I look like this as I sip my coffee and watch the world go by.
I had the pleasure of shooting two international bloggers who were in London for a quick trip. We had been in communication for a few days working out the best schedule. I mean I should have known better when last week my iPhone weather app predicted a full day of sun. Just like a slow motion car crash, the weather forecast kept changing and before I knew it, it read continual rain all day. Welcome to England! We were meant to have a two hour window from 7am to 9am so I took my chance. While the rain started early, surprise surprise, it was light enough for us to powered on. Check out a few pictures from the shoot below. I look forward to editing these soon. Such a fun morning playing tour guide and photographer!
Years ago, a good family friend told me her little secret to self confidence. When she was feeling a little low she would treat herself to a blow dry. I have never forgotten that conversation and just how valuable those words were. For me you just cannot beat a good blow dry or updo. I mean it is just like that magical feeling you get when you have had your hair cut but without the risk of that lost in translation situation where "just a trim" turns out to be "oh my god". I am sure I am not alone in that awkward situation.
