About two weeks ago I was lucky enough to film a corporate event in the Royal Opera house. It was a very long day but it was interesting to see the sunset, sunrise and again sunset all in one day. As a venue, the Royal Opera house is pretty spectacular as it has so much glass and allows a lot of natural light. I have been lucky enough to see both a ballet and an opera here. You can get tickets starting at ten pounds (mainly for the ballet, opera will generally be more expensive). It is a lovely experience and I would recommend seeing a show or even just to escape the hustle of Covent Garden and enjoy a tea or something stronger. I came back during the day for a coffee. It was a surreal treat having this huge venue almost to myself.

Ice-skating can be a fun activity for some or a scary endurance test where the aim of the game is to stay on your feet. It all depends on your skill level. For me, it is very much all about cheering my friends on and taking the odd photo or two. Somerset house is a beautiful location and it was lovely to see so many families out having fun. At the moment they also have a rather inspiring photo exhibition of fashion photographer Tim Walker's work. A must see.I was chatting to my mum on skype about the lead up to Christmas and she reminded me how every December we used to wait for the Myers Centre window display in Brisbane. Apparently this year they are particularly good. Anyway, it got me thinking, that while my family doesn't have many Christmas traditions, this was one of ours. The next opportunity I had, I went into town to see what I could find. Most of the windows were filled with bright stylish party dresses but to my surprise, my favourite window display was from Harrods with a Disney theme is each window. So it may have taken 3 years of positive reinforcement from my boyfriend, but I am finally just a little bit excited about Christmas this year. I am still hopeful for a proper white christmas, the ones you see while watching all the classic films, maybe this is finally the year, fingers crossed. Anyway, I took my camera out shopping with me to capture some of the Christmas joy in central London. I am sure I will add more this the closer we get to the 25th. |
